My name is Shelly Prasad and I have been in the dental profession for 21 years as a Dental Practice Manager. Two years ago, I was presented with the opportunity to teach as a Continuing Education Instructor for the Dental Reception Program. I had extensive knowledge in the field but lacked the teaching skills. I participated in this workshop called the ISW. The subject matter for this particular workshop was, the Delivery of Curriculum, which is part of the PIDP. I learned some invaluable tips and techniques, as well as heard from other instructors and their obstacles teaching. I came to realize that I was not alone. I returned to my class with a different perspective on how to effectively present my material with my new-found confidence. I then thought, why stop? Why not take the PIDP and finish what I started? So here I am!
I am a mother of two extremely loving and supportive young adults, they are one of the reason’s why I am pursuing my PIDP. When I’m not working and teaching, I am travelling the world. I’ve come to realize, that travelling educates your mind and enriches your soul. I also volunteer with the DTES, a cause that is very dear to my heart.
